“Whatever they do, I will come back and I won’t stop trying until I get in,” Leonardo Velasquez Centeno, 25, told The Post. The Honduran is one of more than 1.1 million potential illegal migrants captured by U.S. agents in the first 7.5 months of the Biden administration. No one really knows how many escaped capture.
President Joe Biden and others continue to say they are working to stop him, but his actions – and, more importantly, his inactions – suggest otherwise. Certainly the big left wing of his party thinks that we should let everyone in, that the country can absorb millions and even grant them citizenship at the first opportunity.
Indeed, they expect these new citizens to be loyal Democratic voters.
After all, the skyrocketing started when Biden kept his campaign promises and relaxed many Trump-era restrictions – a message the masses clearly heard as “Come in.”
Most of them are single adults (although more unaccompanied children than ever are also part of the wave). And most of them come from the “Northern Triangle” nations of Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala. But it’s also Ecuador, now overtaking Mexico as the primary source of illegal crosses. The apprehensions of all the nations of Central and South America are on the rise – hell, they include nearly 25,000 Brazilians.
Most are not fleeing violence. On the contrary, reports Dave Seminara, they “are looking for better paying jobs and more generous welfare benefits and … think we will let them stay now that Sheriff Joe Biden is in charge.”
And the tide hasn’t stopped, contrary to the president’s lie months ago that this was just the normal seasonal surge. Indeed, each month sets new records for captured migrants – and, most likely, migrants. not taken (although, again, it is impossible to know).
Meanwhile, federal authorities are losing track of tens of thousands of people admitted inside, as officials only demand a promise to check with authorities after they land somewhere.
And Biden has yet to reverse his decision to stop all border fence construction: Too many in his party are seeing red that “building the wall” could continue. Never mind that it leaves gaps like the one shown on the cover of The Sunday’s Post – where border patrol officers had to improvise a temporary barrier with old truck tires and pieces of equipment left behind by contractors the prez has. sent to pack.
As Post reporter Isabel Vincent writes, officers say “thousands of tons of steel and other building materials have rusted since the order to stop construction.”
Meanwhile, Internal Security Chief Alejandro Mayorkas was filmed calling the situation “unsustainable” and saying “we are going to lose” because “we cannot continue like this, our people on the ground. cannot continue, and our system is not designed for that.
The only hint of a change: a federal judge has just ordered the reinstatement of President Donald Trump’s “Stay in Mexico” approach, which, under an agreement with this country, allowed border officials to make people wait migrants seeking asylum south of the border while their cases are adjudicated. In response, White House staff are speaking to restore a watered-down version of this policy.
Bottom line: It has become impossible to believe that Biden actually wants to stop this nightmare. His contrary words are just more of his endless lies.
